he takes dudes like these guys and lets them pick out/chooses an older picture to emulate and it’s a really interesting dichotomy between the hypermasculine way we’re supposed to think of black men and the way masculinity was thought of back in the day!

If I’m remembering right, there is a GINORMUS piece by him in the Minneapolis Institute of Art. It’s, in case you missed it, HUGE, and beautiful.
Oh god, I remember talking about that piece for art history! It’s so enormous and amazing.
We made self portraits in painting in his style.
